This explains what happens to your information when you use or buy from tranquology.com. It is short, because I collect very little.
Who is responsible
Tranquology, run by Angus Finlayson, a sole trader. Contact me at hello (at) tranquology dot com.
What I collect when you buy
- Your email address, so I can send your download link. Collected by Stripe at checkout and passed to me.
- Your country, taken from your billing details, kept for tax records.
- What you bought and what you paid, kept as a business record.
- Your confirmation that you wanted immediate delivery, with the time you gave it.
I never see your card details. Those go directly to Stripe and never touch this website.
If you email yourself a mix
The mixer can email you a link to your mix. Your address is used once, to send that link, and is not stored. To stop the form being used to send emails to strangers, a scrambled copy of your address and of your connection's IP address is kept for 24 hours and then deleted; it can't be turned back into the original. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is using the form.
Only if you tick "Also send me new soundscapes" is your address passed to Kit, which runs the newsletter. You're then emailed a link to confirm, and no newsletters are sent until you click it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
If you join the newsletter
When you sign up for the free track, or tick the newsletter box in the mixer or in the cart, your email address (and your first name, if you give it) goes to Kit, which runs the newsletter. I email you a link to confirm (sent through Resend, the same service as order emails), and once you click it you get your own download link, which works five times (to count those, the site keeps your Kit subscriber number and a download count, not your email address), then a short welcome series (five emails over two weeks), and after that news of new releases at most once a month. The same scrambled, 24-hour copy as above is kept to stop the form being misused, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is using it. You can unsubscribe from any email, and ask me to delete your address at any time.
What I do with it
Your email address is used to send your downloads and to answer you if you get in touch. Order records are kept because tax law requires it. I do not sell your details, share them for marketing, or send you anything you did not ask for.
Who else is involved
- Stripe takes the payment and handles tax. They are merchant of record, so they also hold their own record of your purchase.
- Resend sends your download email and any mix link you ask for.
- Kit runs the newsletter. It holds the address of anyone who signs up, and only sends newsletters once they confirm.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its files, and processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect against attacks. Its Turnstile check runs when you use the email form.
- YouTube: videos on this site only load when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once playing, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and there is nothing to consent to. Your cart and your mixer settings are remembered in your own browser's storage, which never leaves your device. The cart is forgotten after three days.
How long I keep things
- Download links: expire after 7 days
- Order records: six years, as tax rules require
- Scrambled copies from the mix email form: 24 hours
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, though I may have to keep order records for tax purposes. Email hello (at) tranquology dot com and I will respond within a month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
